Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Funeral services for Margretta Buerger were held Thursday, February 28 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Monona, Iowa for Margretta Buerger. Rev. Elwin Farwell officiated. Interment was in the Monona City Cemetery. Schultz Funeral Home was in charge of the services. Pallbearers were Michael Mielke, Creighton Mielke, Jr., Gregory Mielke, Daniel Mielke, Marlyn Buerger, and LeAllan Buerger.
Margretta, daughter of Otto and Addie Mae (Smith) Mielke, was born December 26, 1920 in Allamakee County, Iowa, near Rossville, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed February 4, 1940 in the Lutheran faith by Rev. Herman Siefkes. She received her education in rural schools in Clayton County and Allamakee County. On January 24, 1940 Margretta married Paul Buerger at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Monona, Iowa. The couple farmed near Monona, Iowa until retiring in 1986. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran church.
Margretta Buerger died February 24, 1991 at Mercy Health Center, Dubuque, Iowa. Preceding her in death were her parents, one son, Ronald Buerger who died July 15, 1951; and 3 brothers, Lloyd Mielke, Creighton Mielke, and Lester Mielke.
She is survived by her husband Paul; 1 daughter, Karen Buerger of Dubuque, Iowa; 1 sister, Evelyn Schlitter of Sumner, Iowa and 2 brothers, Carlton Mielke of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Donald Mielke of Phoenix, Arizona.
