Funeral services for Delos W. Martins were held Monday, September 13 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Monona, Iowa. Pastors Bill and Kristine Schroeder officiated. Interment followed at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Monona, Iowa. Schultz Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Honorary pallbearers were Mr. and Mrs. Marlyn Nuehring, Mr. and Mrs. Helmuth Landt, Mr. and Mrs. LaVerne Landt, Mr. and Mrs. Ron Schrader, and Mr. and Mrs. Romandus Gisleson. Pallbearers were Craig Martins, Blane Martins, Doug Martins, David Martins, Alan Martins, and Lonnie Martins.

Delos W. Martins, son of Leska and Alta (Brandtman) Martins was born August 27, 1929 in Luana, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Luana. Delos graduated from the Luana High School in 1948. On October 28, 1951, Delos was united in marriage to Donna Mae Topel at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Monona, Iowa. He was self-employed as a farmer and also worked as a mechanic at Dee Implement in Waukon, Iowa. Delos was a member of the Monona Merry Mixers and served on the Luana Cooperative Board of Directors. He was also active on the Church Council.

Delos died Friday, September 10, 1999 at Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital, in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Donna Mae, a brother, Delmar Martins who died in infancy, a sister, Delores Larson, and two sisters-in-law, Viola Russell and Florence Martins.

Delos is survived by 2 sons and their wives, Dennis (LuAnn) Martins of Monona, Iowa, and Daniel (Coleen) Martins of Luana, Iowa; 1 daughter, Debra (Rick) Moose of Monona, Iowa; 8 grandchildren; 3 brothers, Delbert Martins (Donna) Martins of Postville, Iowa, Don (Mary) Martins of Fairbanks, Iowa, Duane (Marlys) Martins of Waukon, Iowa; and 2 sisters, Darlene (Eldred) Nuehring of Postville, Iowa, and Della Cowell of Postville, Iowa.
