Colesburg, Iowa, Aug 16 - Joseph Billmeyer of this place passed away suddenly at his home Wednesday. Mr. Billmeyer had been about the premises doing his work as usual and had entered the house. While climbing a flight of stairs he fell backward. When aid reached him he was found to be dead. Physicians made a post mortem examination and found that a blood vessel had broken in the brain, and assigned that as the cause of his sudden death. It was thought that the bursting of the blood vessel in the brain caused him to fall, rather than the rupture of the blood vessel was cause by the fall.

Mr. Billmeyer was one of the prominent citizens of this section of the county, and his death has caused genuine regret. He is survived by his wife and two sons, Frank and Edward. Funeral services were held from the family home yesterday afternoon, and interment made in the Bolsinger cemetery.

~Evening Gazette, Aug 16, 1912 (Cedar Rapids, IA)

~Note: his gravestone in Bolsinger cemetery has the date of death as August 5, 1911 rather than August 5, 1912 as indicated by his death certificate & published death notices.
