Victor Schneider, an old resident of this locality, died last week and was buried in the Dunkard cemetery. We are without data for an obituary, but he was a good man who held the respect of all his acquaintances.

Elkader Register, Thur., 25 Aug. 1898.
We are called upon this week to chronicle the death of Victor Schneider, one of the prominent farmers of Highland twp., at his home near Elgin, on Monday, August 22nd, after an illness of six or seven weeks of pneumonia.
Victor Schneider was born in Canton Solothurn, Switzerland in 1830 and was therefore 68 years old at the time of his death. About 1850 he came to the United States and settled in Highland township where he has since resided.
A sorrowing wife and eleven children survive him, some of his sons being well known to our readers as the firm of J. L. Schneider & Bros., Contractors, of Elkader. Mr. Schneider's life has been one of labor and usefulness in which he has won the regard and esteem of those who knew him and who join in sorrow and sympathy for the bereaved family.
The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at the Dunkard cemetery in Marion township.
