Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Funeral services for Mary Ryan were held Saturday, August 17 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Monona, Iowa. Father John Moran officiated. Pallbearers were Greg Davis, Brent Davis, Michael Ryan, Chris Ryan, David Ryan, Gerald Ryan, Daniel Ryan, and Barry Bradford. Burial was in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery, Monona, Iowa. Schultz Funeral Home of Monona, Iowa was in charge of services.
Mary, the daughter of Joseph and Catherine (Manning) Sullivan, was born March 12, 1910 on her parents farm, rural Lansing, Iowa. She graduated from Immaculate Conception High School, Lansing, Iowa. Mary was united in marriage to Edmund C. Ryan on October 6, 1936 at the Immaculate Conception Church, Wexford, Iowa, Allamakee County. The couple farmed in the Monona area. Following Edmund's death, Mary moved to Monona, Iowa.
She died Wednesday, August 14, 1996 at St. Joseph's Home in Freeport, Illinois. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Edmund who died March 23, 1987, 2 sisters and three brothers.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Patricia (Jerry) Davis of Lanark, Illinois, and Mary Ellen (Jim) Bradford of Guthrie Center, Iowa; 4 sons, James (Elaine) Ryan of Gallipolis, Ohio, Richard (Cheryl) Ryan of Davenport, Iowa, Leo (Lorraine) Ryan of the Quad Cities, and Kenneth (Lianne) Ryan of Port Lavaca, Texas; 25 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, and 2 brothers.
