Funeral services for Margaret Schlitter were held Saturday, October 30 at 1:30 p.m. at the Garden City United Methodist Church, Monona, Iowa. Rev. Gary Dobbins officiated. Pallbearers were Frank Schlitter, Harold Krambeer, Ross Krambeer, James Chase, Scott Chase, and Steven Chase. Burial was in the St. Wenceslaus Cemetery, rural McGregor, Iowa. Schultz Funeral Home of Monona, Iowa was in charge of services.

Margaret was born April 29, 1913 at Nashua, Iowa to Frank A. and Martha (Plozel) Lestina. She received her education in the Cooper Valley School in rural McGregor, Iowa. Margaret was united in marriage to Elmer Schlitter on September 15, 1936 at the E.U.B. parsonage by Rev. Zeller. To this union three children were born. She was a housewife, and worked as a cook for 25 years at White Springs, McGregor, Iowa and several restaurants in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. Margaret enjoyed animals, gardening, flowers, her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Margaret died Wednesday, October 27, 1993 at the Great River Care Center, McGregor, Iowa. She had reached the age of 80 years, 5 months, and 28 days. Preceding her in death were her parents and her brother, Floyd Lestina.

She is survived by her husband, Elmer; 2 daughters, Deanna (Harold) Krambeer of St. Olaf, Iowa and Carol (James) Chase of Farmersburg, Iowa; and 1 son, Franklin (Sandie) Schlitter of McGregor, Iowa; 4 grandchildren, Ross, Scott, Steve, and Rhonda and 6 great-grandchildren, Adam, Nicholas, Jennifer, Adam, Amanda, and Adrianna Margaret; a sister-in-law, Alma Lestina of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin and nieces and nephews.
