A memorial service for Elizabeth J. "Betty" Schultz was held Monday, July 8, 1991 at Garden City United Methodist Church in Monona, Iowa at 11 a.m. Burial was in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Rock Island, Illinois prior to the service. Schultz Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Elizabeth J. "Betty", was the daughter of William L. and Alice (Thornton) Hunker on January 9, 1908 in Moline, Illinois. Betty graduated from the Moline High School in 1926. She graduated from Coe College in 1931 receiving a Bachelor of Music Degree. She earned a masters in music education at Northwestern University in 1941. Betty was a member of the Alph Xi Delta Sorority and Mu Phi Epsilon, an honorary music sorority.

She taught vocal music in Wilton Junction, Iowa, Sigourney, Iowa, Estherville, Iowa, Graettinger, Iowa, Jefferson, Iowa, Grand Junction, Iowa and Monona, Iowa. On November 23, 1942 Betty was united in marriage to Ivon J. Schultz in Boise, Idaho. The couple lived in Jefferson, Iowa and returned to Monona, Iowa in 1947. Betty taught private piano lessons.

Betty died Friday, July 5, 1991 at the Postville Good Samaritan home in Postville, Iowa. She was a member of the Garden City United Methodist Church where she was the organist for 40 years and Monona Federated Woman's Club. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Ivon, who died May 25, 1988.
