Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 12 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Monona, Iowa for Gretchen A. "Babe" Moses who died Wednesday, July 9, 1997 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota. She was 82 years old. Father John Moran officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery with arrangements by Schultz Funeral Home in Monona, Iowa. Casket bearers were Shane and Rick Hass, Dan Tyler, Bud Levenhagen, Larry Peters, and Dave Schlein.
Gretchen Adeline "Babe" was the daughter of Rudolph and Emma (Mielke) Levenhagen on March 28, 1915 in Fairview Township, Allamakee County, Iowa. She received her education in a country school. On April 22, 1941 Babe married Leo Moses at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Monona, Iowa. she was employed by English Drug Store and St. Patrick's lunch program.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Leo who died October 12, 1963, a sister, Ruby Peters Topel and two brothers Edmund Levenhagen and Lawrence Levenhagen.
Babe is survived by a daughter, Deanna (Ronald) Asleson of Dubuque, Iowa and a son Richard "Dick" Moses of Monona, Iowa and one sister, Grace Topel of Monona, Iowa.
