Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Funeral services were held October 6 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Monona, Iowa for Ariel Zittergruen, who passed away October 3, 1999 at the Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin Memorial Hospital. Pastors Bill and Kristine Schroeder conducted the services. Pallbearers were her grandchildren. Burial was in the Monona City Cemetery with Schultz Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.
Ariel Anna Sarah, daughter of Lloyd Henry and Adele Sophia (Hamann) Mueller was born
February 6, 1918 in Garnavillo, Iowa. She graduated from the Garnavillo High School in 1936. She attended the Teacher's College in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Ariel and Marvin William Zittergruen were united in marriage on June 25, 1941 at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Garnavillo, Iowa. She was a schoolteacher for three years, a homemaker and card club member. She was active in St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Monona where she taught Sunday School for 20 years.She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sons Louis Zittergruen and Duane Zittergruen and a brother Gene Mueller.
Survivors include her husband, Marvin; 2 daughters, Shirley (Eric) Anderson of Dallas, Texas, and Linda (David) Monroe of Luana, Iowa, and 1 son, Sheryl (Mary) Zittergruen of Monona, Iowa; 8 grandchildren; and a brother Harold Mueller of Garnavillo, Iowa and a host of other relatives and friends.
