Emma Havelick

Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 24 for Emma Mueller Havelick who died Sunday, July 22 at the Good Samaritan Center in Postville where she had been a resident for six years. The 11 a.m. services were held at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Monona with Pastor Harold Ward officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with Schultz's Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Born Aug. 14, 1890 in Clayton Center, she was the daughter of G. F. William and Alvina Wilke Mueller and attended school in Clayton Center. She married James Simon Havelick Dec. 22, 1910 in Ashley, ND. They lived in Wihsek, ND for 11 years where she was the bookkeeper for the family dray business. In 1921, they moved to the Monona area. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Surviving are two sons, Clarence of Waukon and Donald of Monona; five daughters, Irene Kliefoth, Darlene Whittle and Donna Melcher, all of Monona, Dorothy Hinzman of Guttenberg and Margaret Kennett of Sycamore, IL; 28 grandchildren; 57 great grandchildren and 13 great great grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, Henry Mueller of St. Olaf, and five sisters, Alvina Landt of Monona, Alma Leuchtenmacher and Amanda Dennler of Elkader, Sophia Wacker of Waukon and Greta Bruns of Decorah.

Preceding her in death were her husband who died Oct. 25, 1944, two daughters, Adeline and Esther, two great grandchildren; a sister, Louisa Dorman, and three brothers, Bill, Arno and Helmuth.

Casket bearers were Daniel White, Craig Hansen, Robert Hinzman, Richard Kennett, David Havelick and Larry Whittle.
