Former Guttenberg Resident Pass Away - On Saturday at her home at Devon, Iowa occurred the death of Mrs. M. B. Needham (nee Julia Downey) after suffering for some time with dropsy and heart trouble. Deceased was born in Garnavillo township, Clayton County, Iowa on October 29, 1862. On July 11, 1893 she was married at Garnaville Iowa to Mr. M. B. Needham. For a number of years Mr. and Mrs. Needham were engaged in the hotel business at Guttenberg, later going to Devon, Iowa where she lived until her death.
For 13 years she was successfully engaged as teacher in the schools of Clayton County. She was a kind and true wife, sister and friend and her loving disposition won her many friends by whom she will be sadly missed. She was always ready with heart and hand to help those in need. She had been ailing for some time, but was begining to feel stronger of late and she had hopes for recovery until Saturday when the Angel of Death called her suddenly to that world where all pain and suffering are forgotten, and where there is happiness forever. Her death is deeply mourned by her husband, one daughter Mrs. D. S. Mallory, 4 brothers, 1 sister, and a large number of relatives and friends. The remains were brought to Elkport Monday and the funeral was held Tuesday morning. Interment was made at Garnavillo. May she rest in peace. She was a faithful member of the Catholic Church.
