Henry Dietrich Huesman died Friday, February 23 at his home in Clayton County, near Postville, Iowa.

Services will be held Thursday, March 1, 1990, 1:30 p.m. in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville. Rev. Julius L. Peterson will officiate. Burial will be in the Postville Cemetery. Schutte Funeral Service, Postville, is in charge of arrangements.

Henry Dietrich Heusman, son of William and Elizabeth (Kregel) Heusman, was born January 22, 1904 in Elreno, OK. He was baptized February 27, 1904 by Rev. Maz Banitz and confirmed March 24, 1918 by Rev. F. W. Dickman. He attended the school near his home.

On May 7, 1932 he married Malinda (Meyer) Huesman. He had farmed for a short time, then was employed at the Hygrade Packing Plant in Postville for several years. Henry will be most remembered for his many years of service as a crossing guard for the Postville Community Schools.

He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Malinda, who died May 2, 1963, a stepson, Elliot, who died July 12, 1946, and 4 brothers, Fred, Albert, Will and Gus.

Surviving is a sister, Anne Leck, Calument, OK; a daughter-in-law, Verla Wold and her husband, Clifford, Cedar Rapids; 4 grandchildren, Gene Heusman, Phoenix, AZ, Marilyn Schulte, Phoenix, AZ, Shirley and her husband, Ben Mudd, Cedar Rapids and Julie and her husband, John Carson, Mission Viejo, CA; 11 great grandchildren; 3 nieces; 2 nephews and several cousins.
