Selma Sophia Ida (Bruehahn) Hamman Henning Helgerson
Funeral services for Selma Helgerson, 83, were held Wednesday, June 6 at 1:30 p.m. at Schultz's Funeral Home, Monona with the Rev. Ted Ager officiating. Burial was in Monona City Cemetery.
Selma Sophia Ida Helgerson, the daughter of William and Alvina (Voelzke) Bruehahn, was born March 8, 1901 in Allamakee County. She died June 3, 1984 at Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waukon.
She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona, by the Rev. Daugs. She received her education in the rural school near Monona.
She was united in marriage to Edward Hamman at her family home March 12, 1919. They were the parents of three children. After the death of her husband, she was married to Edgar Henning. After his death, she married Melvin Helgerson.
She lived most of her life in the Monona area, later moving to Postville. For the past 1½ years she lived in Waukon.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husbands, Edward Hamman in 1956; Edgar Henning in 1967; and Melvin Helgerson in 1979; her sister, Edna Ball; and brothers Bert, George and Paul Bruehahn.
Surviving are her son, Milton Hamman, Monona; her daughters Mrs. Harold (Florence) Schroeder, Monona, and Mrs. Lloyd (Laura) Duvel, Postville; seven grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; her brother, Walter Bruehahn, Monona; and several nieces and nephews.
