Funeral services for Bernita D. Heins were held Thursday, August 20, 1981 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Postville. The Rev. David R. Nelson officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Postville Cemetery.
Bernita Darlene Heins, daughter of Albert and Marie (Land) Monroe, was born March 21, 1929 at Marquette. She died August 17, 1981 at Community Memorial Hospital, Postville.
On July 23, 1947 she was united in marriage with Glen Heins at Guttenberg. To this union nine children were born. They farmed south of Luana.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Alvin Monroe.
Surviving besides her husband are three sons: Wayne and Steven of Luana; and Roger of Cedar Rapids; six daughters: Mrs. Donald (Kathy) Solheim, Castalia, IA; Mrs. David (Beverly) Jermeland, West Union; Mrs. Janice Baker, Postville; Mrs. Dean (Marsha) Mabb, Waterloo; and Terri and Penny Heins, at home; seventeen grandchildren; six brothers: Bernold, Luana, Curtis, Calmar, Virgil, Ossian, Carroll, Warrensburg, MO, Forrest, St. Olaf, and Fielden (Fritz) Fredericksburg; two sisters; Mrs. Rose Marie Knecht, Chandler, AZ and Mrs. Marlene Schissel, Prairie du Chien, WI.
