On last Saturday occured the death of Mrs. Mary O'Brien at the home of her son-in-law Mr. J.P. McDermott, at Osborne. Deceased was born at Wicklow, Ireland in 1815, and came to America in 1861.
Six children were born to her, three sons and three daughters: John O'Brien, of Mederville, Thos. O'Brien, of the Black Hills, Peter McCabe, of Oregon, Mrs. Week, of Clermont, Mrs. Schmid, of Elgin, and Mrs. J.P. McDermott, of Osborne, with whom she lived and died. Twenty-one grandchildren and four great grand children, besides other relatives, survive her.
For about seven years she has been suffering from paralysis, and during the last few days of her existence on earth her suffering was unbearable, and death came as sweet relief. A very respectable family and many good friends survive her, in whose behalf we extend our sincere sympathies in their day of sorrow. She was a lady who in health was noted for her devotion to home, kindred and friends, and to all which she believed to be right.
Funeral services were held at St. Joseph's church in Elkader yesterday, Rev. Father Riley, officiating. May she rest in peace.
