Frank Holly Services Held

Funeral services for Frank Holly, 87, were held Monday afternoon, April 13, at 1:30 o'clock at the Monona Methodist church with Rev. Paul V. Clements officiating.

The body lay in state at the church from 12 o'clock noon until the time of the services. Burial was in the Monona City cemetery.

Mr. Holly died Friday, April 10, at the Postville hospital after a two weeks illness.

He was the eldest of 14 children and was born a son of John and Mary, nee Lestina, Holly in Giard township, Jan. 14, 1877.

After being educated in rural schools, he spent his early manhood as a farm laborer.

He was married to Emma Scheffert, March 24, 1902. They lived in Monona, where he worked as a carpenter until retirement.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, Emma; a son, Walter; three brothers, five sisters and three grandchildren.

Surviving are a daughter, Genevieve; a son, Lester; four brothers, Albert, George, Vencilof, and Elmer; one sister, Mrs. William (Rose) Schroeder; and two grandchildren, Bonnie and Gary Holly.

Music at the services was provided by Mrs. Ben Frese, soloist, Mrs. Ivon J. Schultz was the organist.

Pallbearers were Elba Nagel, Myron Schmitt, Leo Havlicek, Joe Mista, Emmer Gunderson, and LeRoy Hoth.

Those attending the services from out of town were: Mr. and Mrs. Joe Fibikar of Dows, Mr. and Mrs. John Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. Nels Pearson of Chicago, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Walter Koehn of McGregor, Mr. and Mrs. john Blietz of Waterloo, Mr. and Mrs. James Riley of Prairie du Chien, Mr. and Mrs. Vencilof Holly of Postville, Gary Holly of Ames, Bonnie Holly of Cedar Rapids, Cecil Snively of West union, Helmuth Meyer of Postville, and Mrs. Gilbert Kurth and Mr. and Mrs. Yvo Scheffert of Luana.
