Elkader Woman Dies in Des Moines
Elkader - Mrs. Amelia Soll, 78, pioneer resident of Clayton county, died yesterday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Roehlk, of Des Moines. Remains have been brought to the Witt Funeral home and funeral arrangements are pending.Mrs. Soll is one of 10 children of Wolfgang Schmidt, who with his brother, Robert, came here 90 years ago and operated a large brewery. She was married to F.H. Soll in 1894. Her husband was recorder in Clayton county and in the early 1900's served as deputy sheriff. He was also once a postmaster in Elkader, and died in 1928.
She is survived by her son, John, of Kansas City, and two daughters, Mrs. John Roehlk of Des Moines and Mrs. J.R. Frame, Dayton, O. she is also survived by two brothers, William, Lakeport, Cal., and Fred, of Elkader, and a sister, Carolyn Schmidt, of Elkader.
