CLEFISCH SERVICE HELD
Funeral services were to be held this Wednesday afternoon from St. John American Lutheran church in Guttenberg for Mrs. Leona Sophia Clefisch, 70, who died Sunday at a Prairie du Chien hospital following a hospitalization of one week.
The services were conducted by Rev. E. W. Kraemer, pastor of St. John church, and burial was at the Cere cemetery in charge of the Tuecke funeral home. Pallbearers were Curtis Henkes, Roger Wettleson, Richard Clefisch, Carl Swenson, William Niehaus and Donald Doehrmann.
Mrs. Clefisch was born in Jefferson Township of Clayton County on February 7, 1894, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Lewin.
On June 26, 1912 she was married to William Clefisch at Ceres.
Mrs. Clefisch cam here from Janesville, Wisconsin, about three years ago to make her home.
Surviving Mrs. Clefisch are a son, Virgil Clefisch of Guttenberg, and two daughters, Mrs. Clarence Schave of Luana and Mrs. Irvin Niehaus of Dubuque.
Also surviving are nine grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, as well as a brother, Ray Lewin of Guttenberg, and a sister, Mrs. Erna Timmerman of Plentywood, Montana.
