Funeral services for Louie Oscar Reierson were held Monday, December 7 at Marion Lutheran Church, Gunder, Iowa. Rev. William Palmquist officiated. Interment was in the Marion Lutheran Cemetery, Gunder, Iowa. Muehlethaler Funeral Home of Elgin, Iowa was in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Brian Reierson, Roger Reed, Mervin Reierson, Brad Reierson, Mark Fasse, and Carlyle Kirkeberg.

Louis Oscar, son of Reier and Maren (Olson) Reierson, was born September 12,1884 at Gunder, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed in the Marion Lutheran Church and received his education in the rural school district #5 Marion Township. He was united in marriage to Helen Elvina Wold at the Norway Lutheran Church June 20, 1912. They had 2 children.

He was a lifelong member of the Marion Lutheran Church. He served on various committees such as the church board, Sunday School Superintendent, and the church choir. He also was active in his township and county serving on the Marion Township school board, boards of the Gunder Cheese Factory and the Farm Bureau. He also helped organize the Elgin Lutheran Church. His occupation was farming. When he retired from the farm he purchased a home in Elgin which was their home until 1979 when they took residency at the Good Samaritan Center, Postville, Iowa. His death occurred at the Good Samaritan Home at the age of 103.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Cornelius Reierson and 2 sisters, Mary Wold and Ruth Kirkeberg. His wife died just a year ago on December 11, 1986.

Surviving are his daughter, Marjorie (Mrs. Harvey Paulsen) of Elgin, Iowa and son Randolph, also of Elgin, Iowa; 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
