MCGREGOR, Iowa -- Mary Kathryn (Rego) Mullarkey, 82, of McGregor, passed away Sunday evening, Oct. 24, 2010, at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital, La Crosse, Wis.A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 29, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, McGregor, with the Rev. Greg Bahl officiating. Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Cemetery, Wexford. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 28, at Thornburg-DeVries Funeral Home, McGregor, where there will be a scripture service at 4 p.m. Friends also may call after 9:30 a.m. Friday at the church.
She was born on Nov. 6, 1927, at home in Richland County, Wis., daughter of Peter and Mary (Dooley) Rego. She married Frank Mullarkey on March 29, 1952, in Milwaukee; he preceded her in death in 1989.
She worked at White Springs Supper Club, in McGregor, for 33 years.
Mary was a devoted mother and grandmother who always put her family first. She was a die-hard Cubs fan, avid quilter and great cook, making many family favorites including dinner rolls, pies and jellies.
Surviving are six children, Mike (Deb) Mullarkey, of Richland Center, Wis., Pat (Julie) Mullarkey, of McGregor, Colleen (Mike) Loetz, of Cherokee, Jim (Starla) Mullarkey, of Fort Myers Beach, Fla., Kathy (Brian) Atkinson, of Pardeeville, Wis., and Sharon (Sean) Burke, of McGregor; 12 grandchildren, Steve (Michelle) Mullarkey, Dave Mullarkey, Ben (Alicia) Mullarkey, Pete (Aleshia) Mullarkey, Patty (Andy) Fettkether, Dave (Devin) Loetz, Matt Loetz, Nicki (Jake) Glassmaker, Bailey Mullarkey, Danielle Atkinson, Brandon Burke and Bryce Burke; five great-grandchildren, Emily, Summer, Parker, Kinzie and Chase; and brothers and sisters, Leone Walsh, Joe Rego, Bob (LaVonne) Rego, Alice (Ron) Cowley, Harold (Florence) Rego, Jim Mann and Roy (Judy) Rego.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Tom Mullarkey; and a sister, Sally Mann.
