Brian Owen Martins

Brian Owens Martins, son of Bernald and Joann (Baltz) Martins, was born September 9, 1959 at Cedar Rapids, IA. He graduated from Postville High School in 1978.

Brian was united in marriage to Toni Sue Mueller on June 25, 1988 at St. John Lutheran Church, Luana, IA. He was employed at Swiss Valley Farms, Luana, since 1979. He enjoyed music and was a mechanical wizard.

Brian died Saturday, February 17, 2001 at his home in Luana. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Hilda and John Martins, and Art Baltz, and a cousin, Leslie Baltz.

Survivors include his wife, Toni Sue; two daughters at home, Casey and special friend Jeremy Kottman, and Rachael; parents, Bernald and Joann Martins of Postville, IA; three brothers, Al Martins and special friend Nancy Portz of Minneapolis, MN, Mark Martins and special friend Becky Rose of Waukon, IA, and Larry Martins of Milwaukee, WI; one sister, Lori Martins, of Iowa City, IA; grandmother, Marie Baltz of Postville, IA; father and mother-in-law, Norman and Maggie Mueller of Luana, IA; uncles and aunts, nieces and nephews; two cats, Abby and Kennedy; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Schultz's Funeral Home of Monona was in charge of arrangements. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2001 at 11 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Luana, Iowa, with Rev. Christopher Staley officiating.

Burial was at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Luana. Pallbearers were Tim Mueller, Dave Gunderson, Dale Echard, Rick Kirkeberg, Rick Gunderson, Chris Gunderson, and Don Klotzbach. Honorary pallbearers were Marty Bissell, Kevin Loomis, Brian Hinman, Arlin Baade, Al Schultz, and Dennis Kovarik.
