Strawberry Point Woman is Dead at Age 93; Rites Today
(Courier Special Service)Strawberry Point, IA – Harriet Louisa Dunsmoor, 93, one of Strawberry Point’s oldest citizens, died Thursday at her home in Strawberry Point, following an illness of eight months. She had been confined to her bed most of that time.
Born May 17, 1857, she was the daughter of Louisa and Emery H. Sargent, who lived two and one-half miles south of Strawberry Point. She had lived in or near Strawberry Point 91 years. On Jan. 23, 1876, she was married to Fred W. Dunsmoor at Strawberry Point. She was an active member of the Methodist church, Royal Neighbors of American and the auxiliary.Her husband, Fred Dunsmoor, and two sons, Jesse Thomas and Fred L. Dunsmoor, Jr., preceded her in death. Jesse in infancy and Fred Jr. was killed in World War I. Survivors are five daughters, 19 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren. The daughters are Ida M. Grumen, Lamont; Grace R. Smith, Strawberry Point; Bertha B. Dunsmoor, Cedar Rapids; Louise B. Wells, Prairieburg; and Mabel S. Rogers, LaCrosse, Wis.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.m. Sunday at the Methodist church in Strawberry Point with Rev. Wayne Carlson officiating. Burial will be in County Corners cemetery.~Sources
