George Carl Ehrhardt was born in Boardman Township, Clayton County, Iowa, on October 19, 1885, and died May 27, 1960 at Mercy Hospital, Oelwein, Iowa. He had lived in Clayton and Fayette Counties all of his life.
He was the son of E. C. Ehrhardt and Elizabeth Brockman Ehrhardt. He attended public schools in Elkader, Iowa. In 1915 he was married to Henrietta Steen and for many years was in business in Communia, Iowa. To this marriage were born two sons, Carroll Ehrhardt, now living at Hawkeye, Iowa, and Kenneth Ehrhardt, now living in Waterloo. Also surviving him are three brothers Fred of Sac City, Edward of Elkader, and Elmer of Oelwein. One brother, Carl, preceded him in death. He is also survived by four grandchildren.
Funeral service was at the Witt Funeral Home Sunday, May 29, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. George M. Richter, pastor of the Congregational Christian Church, officiating. Burial was in the East Side Cemetery.
Pall bearers were Manley Schroeder, Carl Stiehl, John Wahls, Henry Matt, Harold Matt, and Elmer Schmalfeld.
