Funeral services for Frank R. Bothel, 84, were held Wednesday afternoon, October 5, at 2:00 at the Methodist Church with Rev. Paul V. Clements officiating. The body lay in state at the church from 1 o'clock in the afternoon until the time of the services. Burial was in the Monona City cemetery. Mr. Bothel died Monday, October 3, at the Postville Hospital, where he was taken September 24 for medical care.

He was born a son of John and Rachel,(nee Mangus) Bothel, near Atwood, Pennsylvania, June 25, 1882. He moved with his parents to Monona in 1883. He was married to Hattie Pearl Oliver, October 23, 1906. Mr. Bothel was engaged in the implement business in Monona for nearly fifty years. He was a member of the Methodist Church for 64 years; a charter member of the Kiwanis Club; a fifty year Mason and a member of the Odd Fellows. Mr. Bothel took a very active interest in religious and community activities until his late years.

Preceding him in death were his wife, his parents, five sisters, and five brothers. Surviving is one daughter, Marjorie Bothel and many nieces and nephews.

Honorary pallbearers were: Henry Christofferson, Robert Ferguson, Walter Kaiser, William Marfilius, Vern Zieman, Lester Gruel, Arthur Kaiser, Alvin Dettman, Henry Wolf, and Emil Zurcher. Active pallbearers were: Harlan Hass, Ben Meyer, George Baade, Leslie Seeland, Hubert Lenth, Vern Marting, Harvey Montour, and Gilbert Rose. Music at the services was provided by Mrs. Thomas James, soloist, and Mrs. Ivon J. Schultz, organist.
