Funeral services were held Saturday, April 11, for Ed Mueller, 63, who passed away April 8 on the way to the hospital. Final rites were held at St. John's Lutheran Church in Luana with the Rev. L. W. Reuther in charge. Burial was in the Luana Lutheran cemetery.
Eddie August Friederich Mueller, son of Henry and Wilhelmina (Sass) Mueller, was born June 30, 1895 on a farm south of Luana in Monona township. August 4, 1895 he was baptized in the Lutheran Church in Clayton Center and on April 9, 1911 he was confirmed in St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Monona. He spent his youth on the farm of his birth and received his secular education in the rural school. At the age of 15 years he moved with his parents on the present Henry Mueller, Sr. farm where he lived until the time of his death.
During World War I he was called into the service of his country. He was a private in Company D., 42nd Engineers, and served one year in France. He was a member of the American Legion.
The deceased usually enjoyed good health. He succumbed to a heart attack and cerebral hemorrhage at 7:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 8. He attained the age of 63 years, nine months and eight days.
His parents, two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
He is survived by four brothers: William Mueller of Luana, Arthur Mueller of Postville, Leslie Mueller of Luana and Henry Mueller of Monona; one sister, Mrs. Delbert (Ruby) Breitsprecher of Luana; four nephews; three nieces; and one grand nephew.
