Doris May Lund

Doris Lund, 81, of McGregor, died Thursday, June 7, 2001 at Memorial Hospital in Prairie du Chien, Wis., following a short illness.

Funeral services were held Monday, June 11 at 1 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in McGregor.

Burial was in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in McGregor. Thornburgh Hanson Funeral Home of McGregor handled arrangements.

Doris May Lund was born June 27, 1919 in Armour, S.D. to William and Sarah Eleanor (Simpson) Harris.

She received a bachelor's degree from Iowa State Teachers College, and taught for over 40 years, serving schools in Geneva, Earlville, Lamoille, Luana, Ossian, McGregor and Starmont, where she taught for 16 years before retiring in 1981.

She married Carl Lund April 4, 1942 in Unionville, Mo.

She was active in the United Methodist Women and enjoyed singing in the choir.

Doris Lund liked being at the river at Lund's Camp, where she made many longtime friends that will miss her.

Most of her time was occupied by being a mother and grandmother, and she loved her family.

Survivors include her husband, Carl Lund; a daughter, Carol and Philip Hemesath of Decorah; a son, Donald and Patricia Lund of Monona; eight grandchildren and a sister, Mildred Kuhn of Tucson, Ariz.

Doris May Lund was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Laura Hemesath; a sister, Connie Bickett and a brother, Bill Harris.
