Charles Hamann, 62 years old, passed away at the Postville hospital Thursday afternoon following an illness of three weeks.
He was born at Marquette on October 17, 1877, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Christ Hamann. On August 13, 1901, Mr. Hamann was married to Miss Caroline Morken at Mason City and they moved to this community where he had lived practically ever since. Mrs. Hamann passed away August 23, 1908. Four children were born to their union, three of whom are living. They are George of Luana, Arthur of Manly and Ed of Monona.
Mr. Hamann was a stone mason and he looked upon his work as an art which only few men can perform successfully today.
In addition to the three sons, he is survived by one grandchild, Betty, of Luana, two brothers, Christ of Prairie du Chien, Wis., and Ed of Monona. Funeral services were held at the Schultz funeral home at Monona on Saturday afternoon and interment was made in the Monona cemetery. The Rev. Paul W. Adix officiated.
