Herbert H. Mueller, 92, of Elkader, died Monday morning January 7, 1991 at Central Community Hospital in Elkader. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 10 at the Leonard-Witt Funeral Home. The Rev. Ellen Taube officiating. Burial in the Garnavillo City Cemetery.

Herbert H. Mueller, son of Herman and Amelia (Palas) Mueller, was born January 9, 1898 on a farm in Read Township. He attended rural county schools. He was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Clayton Center, where he remained a member.

As a young man, he worked for many farmers. He married Alice Kliefoth on January 23, 1929. They started farming in Township near Froelich.

A son Dwayne was born to them. After many years of farming they moved to Elkader, where they retired.

Survivors include his wife, Alice, a daughter-in-law, Marie Mueller of Guttenberg, nine grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son Dwayne, in 1982, a great grandson, Christopher Mueller, three sisters, Lucy Reimer, Bertha Wiese and Irvina Mueller and three brothers, Herman, Harvey and Harry.

Pallbearers were Dwayne Mueller, Jerry Mueller, Wyatt Mueller and Robert Mueller.
