Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. from the Schultz Funeral Home in Monona for Gus Moon, 59, who passed away suddenly at Clermont. Military rites were conducted. Rev. Frederick R. Ludwig, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Postville, officiated. Burial was at Gooding cemetery west of Farmersburg.

Gus Orvil Willie Moon, son of the late Will Moon and Anna Henkes Moon was born December 9, 1892, in Wagner township, Clayton county, and departed this life suddenly on September 27, 1952, at Clermont, aged 59 years, nine months and 18 days.

Mr. Moon was a lifelong resident of Northeast Iowa. He was born and reared in the Farmersburg community. He was inducted into the service of his country on July 25, 1918, at Elkader, and received his honorable discharge at Camp Dodge on May 16, 1919. Following his discharge he returned to the Farmersburg community, where he continued his home until 1945. The last seven years of his life were spent at Clermont.

Left to mourn his passing are two brothers, Ire Moon of Farmersburg and Leo Moon of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin; one sister, Flossie, Mrs. Fred Ruckdaschel, of Postville; as well as numerous other relatives and friends. Mr. Moon was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mabel, Mrs. Joe Holly, and Jessie, Mrs. Alva Jones; and one brother, Herbert Moon.
