Clayton County Register, Thur., 8 Sept. 1932.

Wendell Schrader, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Schrader of Wagner township, was born Oct. 20, 1906. Following their Christian duty, the parents took him to Holy Baptism, where he was made a child of God. This they followed according to the Lutheran plan to instruct the young with his confirmation instruction here at our Lutheran church in Farmersburg. Only the first few years of his life were those of free and happy childhood days, for when he was only eight years old, symptoms of the affliction which clung to him throughout his life on earth, began to appear. When the parents saw this cross approach, they were tireless in their efforts and saved no money to try and find help. But even though he passed through four operations and tried all possible cures, the Lord did not will that he should be relieved from this cross. Wendell made his home with his parents in Wagner township. The parents remained on the farm even though retired in order that their son might have the best possible home. They cared for him constantly without a word of complaint. Wendell longed for strength from God to bear his suffering patiently. A few weeks ago he was again given to much suffering from his affliction. Finally, a week ago Sunday, his illness became so acute that a doctor was again summoned. An operation was the only possible chance for recovery. He was rushed to the Mercy hospital at Cresco and there underwent his fifth operation, from which he was never to recover. Five days after this operation, on Friday, Aug. 26, at the age of 25 years, 10 months and six days, the Lord saw fit to call him from this world.

One brother and one sister preceded him in death. Surviving him are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Schrader, one sister, Mrs. Ella Mathews, a sister-in-law, Mrs. Hazel Schrader, and four nephews.

May he rest in peace and eternal light shine.
