IN LOVING MEMORY
Marinette J. Oleson was born June 14, 1919, at Farmersburg, Iowa, the daughter of H. Donald and Lillian (Vogt) Oelke. She graduated from Farmersburg High School and attended Bayless Business College, Dubuque. She was a bookkeeper and cashier for Bink Mercantile Company, Elkader, for many years. Later she managed the Elkader Country Club, opened and managed the Ecumenical Tower, Dubuque, and managed Keystone Terrace, Elkader. She died Tuesday evening, August 11, 1987, at the Central Community Hospital, Elkader, Iowa.
She was married to Arthur J. Bender in Dubuque, Iowa, on January 13, 1938. They were the parents of one daughter, Mrs. Jerry (Judy) Moyna of Elkader.
On October 13, 1947, she was married to Alfred M. Bink at St. Raphaels Cathedral in Dubuque. They were the parents of two daughters, Mrs. Jan (Lois) Wood of Garnavillo and Mrs. Robert (Kathy) Nesteby of Elkader. Mr. Bink died in 1969.
On November 30, 1971, she was married to Avron L. Oleson of Elkader. She and Mr. Oleson had just received the WMT and Life Investors Good Neighbor Award for their work with a weekly study group at the Elkader Care Center.
Mrs. Oleson was a member and past president of many organizations which included the St. Joseph's Guild, BPW, VFW Auxiliary, Acorns, and the Central Community Music Boosters. She was a member of the advisory board for Area I Council on Aging and attended the Governor's Conference on Aging. She was instrumental in the establishment of the Senior Citizens Meal Site in Elkader and attended the Older lowans Legislative Meeting in Des Moines.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a half bother Calvin Oelke and a granddaughter Kathleen Moyna. She is survived by her husband, Avron L. Oleson of Elkader; her daughters; four grandchildren, Stephen and James Moyna and Michael and Alison Nesteby; one sister, Donna Radloff, Farmersburg; two half sisters, Sharon Chapman, Cassville, Wis., and Kerry Schiro, Madison, Wis.; three stepchildren, Peggy Ehm and George Oleson, Des Moines, and Ann Boultinghouse, Dubuque.
