Esther Jane Vogt, nee Moon, daughter of Harry and Christina nee Muller. Mena was born April 6, 1896 in Monona Township. She was baptized June 28, 1896 and received her early religious training in the Evangelical Church located near her home. She attended the rural Humphery school. She was confirmed on March 22, 1914 at Zion Church in Wagner Township by the Reverend E. G. Glaeser.

On May 26, 1930 she was united in marriage with Hugo Vogt at her family home. To this union one son, Harold, was born. In 1953 Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Vogt retired to their home in Monona.

Esther was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Ernie, Art, Floyd, and Roy. Her husband Hugo died December 4, 1971, exactly one year to the day she was called to rest.

She leaves to cherish her memory her son Harold, daughter-in-law Jeanette, three grandsons, Randal, Daniel, and David, one brother Harold Moon, and numerous relatives and many friends.

The funeral was held at St. John Lutheran Church, Farmersburg, on Thursday, December 7, 1972 with Pastor David Heck officiating. Mrs. James Walter sang a song and Mrs. R. H. Steege played the organ. Pallbearers were William Dettmann, Raymond DeSotel, W. A. Begalske, Hubert Lenth, Herman Wehrkamp, and John Wachter.
