ARNO W. HEUER 1902-1986
Arno was born July 31, 1902 at Read Township, Clayton County, Iowa to Ludwig and Una (Blank) Heuer. He was raised and educated in Read Township and Guttenberg, Iowa. He was baptized into the Zion Lutheran Church on October 25, 1903 by Rev. F. W. Seifert. He was confirmed on March 24, 1918 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Guttenberg, Iowa by Rev. J. Janzig.
Arno spent his entire life in this area except for a short time in Indianapolis, Indiana, where he attended an auto school. He then came back and worked for a tractor factory in Guttenberg for several years. February 18, 1925 he was united in marriage to Mabel Kelpien on her home farm. A daughter, Marleen, was born to this union. They were married sixty-one years and one month to the date of Arno's death. They have farmed the Kelpien home farm near Garnavillo ever since their marriage.
December 31, 1985 Arno entered the Central Community Hospital where he stayed until February 21, 1986 when he moved to Finley Hospital in Dubuque. His death occurred there on March 18,1986 at the age of eighty-three.
He leaves to survive, his wife Mabel, his daughter Marleen, a brother Paul Heuer of Burlington, Wisconsin, and two sisters: Mrs. Alma Ihlenfeldt of Strawberry Point, and Mrs. Horace (Lora) Larson of St. Olaf.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Otto Heuer, and two sisters: Lucy Schievelbein and Ella Ihlenfeldt.
Interment will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery at Clayton Center, Iowa.
