Mabel Heuer 1906-1991

Mabel was born May 15, 1906, at her home in Read Township, Clayton County, Iowa, to George and Linda (Vogt) Kelpien. She was raised and educated in the area attending the Hanover rural school. Mabel was baptized on July 22, 1906, and confirmed on March 28, 1920.

Mabel was united in marriage to Arno W. Heuer on February 18, 1925, at her home. A daughter Marlene was bom to this union. Together they resided on Mabel's home farm where they farmed for many years. Arno died on March 18, 1986.

After an extended illness, Mabel died Thursday moming, September 26, 1991, at Central Community Hospital in Elkader. She was eighty-five years of age. Mabel was a life long member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Clayton Center. She was also active over the years in the E.L.C.W., Clayton County Farm Bureau, and in several other farm organizations.

Mabel is survived by her daughter, Marlene Heuer of Garnavillo, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arno, and by her parents.

Services Saturday, Sept. 28, 1991, Zion Lutheran Church, Clayton Center, Iowa, 2 p.m.
