Funeral services for Rosena C. Landsgard were held Friday, Nov. 12 at 11 a.m. at the Marion Lutheran Church in Gunder. The Rev. Keith Klemm officiated. The Schutte Funeral Service of Postville was in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Rosena Caroline Landsgard, daughter of Ole and Ingeborg (Olson) Torkelson, was born Feb. 22, 1897 on a farm in Highland Township, Clayton County, Iowa. She died Nov. 9, 1982 at the Good Samaritan Center in West Union, Iowa.

She was baptized March 4, 1897 and confirmed Dec. 10, 1911 in the Highland Lutheran Church. She received her education in the Clayton County Schools.

On Jan. 4, 1923 she married George E. Landsgard. They had three sons and two daughters. They made their home on a farm near Lansing, Iowa until 1929 when they moved to a farm near Gunder and lived in this community until 1971 when Rosena became a resident of the Good Samaritan Center in West Union.

She is preceded in death by her husband, George, who died June 28, 1962, a daughter in infancy, her parents, three sisters, Hilda Torkelson, Alma Schoien and Caspara Henson, and six brothers, Tom, Otto, Clarence, Millard, William and Oliver Torkelson.

Surviving are three sons, Orian and Gordon, both of St. Olaf, and Maurice of Postville, a daughter, Geraldine (Mrs. Leo Friederich) of Elgin, ten grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, two brothers, Oscar Torkelson of Farmersburg and Carl Torkelson of Elgin and a sister, Mrs. Ida Larson of Elgin.

She was an active and life long member of the Lutheran Church and active in it's organizations.
