Rites Held For Elmer W. Landt
Funeral services were held July 21 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Luana for Elmer W. Landt, 43, who passed away July 18 following a lingering illness. Burial was in the Lutheran cemetery, Luana. The rites were in charge of the Rev. L. W. Reuther.
Elmer William Landt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Landt, was born October 12, 1914 on a farm five miles south of Luana. He was a confirmed member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Luana. The deceased spent his childhood and youth on the farm of his birth which he later rented from his parents after his marriage November 7, 1935. To this union one child was born. The last three years of his life were spent in the home of his parents in Luana.
The deceased had been in failing health during the past three years. He spent much of this time in the hospital in Iowa City. He passed away last Friday morning, July 18, 8:30, having attained the age of 43 years, nine months and six days.
He is survived by one son, Dean Landt of Luana; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Landt of Luana; one brother, Harvey Landt of Luana; and two grandchildren. A sister preceded him in death.
