A.G. Gosting, a photograph artist at Strawberry Point, died suddenly a week ago last Saturday. A telegram to his brothers here was delayed so that they were not able to join in the last sad tribute paid to his memory.

He was a veteran of the late war, having served in that gallant 12th Iowa. Correspondence in the Dubuque Herald speaks at length of the large attendance at his funeral and of the immpressive service conducted at the grave of the stricken hero. The casket was covered with the flag he loved so well and a beautiful wreath of flowers told of the willing work of loving hands. The Grand army and the masonic fraternity led the sorrowing throng to the grave where the worn body was laid to rest.

He was most highly esteemed by the community in which he had lived for sixteen years. He left a wife, five daughters and three sons, in the sorrow which death only can bring.

~note: Albert G. Gosting was born April 9, 1839 in Lincolnshire, England
