Lloyd Ensell Loftsgard, 59, of Gunder, died April 23 at the Veterans Hospital in Iowa City.
Lloyd Ensell Loftsgard was born April 7, 1920 in Clayton County, the son of Helmer and Ruth Loftsgard. He was baptized and confirmed in the Marion Church of which he was a life-long member. He was also a member of the Elgin American Legion Post. He attended school near Gunder and was a veteran of World War II. He married Josephine Bilden in 1951 and to this union a son, Harold, was born. He farmed in the Gunder area for most of his life. Mrs. Loftsgard died in 1969 and he married Lila Olson of Clermont May 1, 1971.
He is survived by his wife, Lila; his son, Harold, of Richfield, Minn.; his mother, Mrs. Ruth Loftsgard, of Elgin. one step-daughter, Mrs. Brian Bischoff, of Long Island, New York; one step grandchild; and three sisters, Mrs. Jake Schneider, of Elgin, Mrs. DeVere Halverson, of West Union and Mrs. Sharon Von Sickle, of Elk Grove Village, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Helmer; a brother, Raymond and one step-daughter, Sonja Olson.
Funeral services were held April 26 at the Marion Lutheran Church in Gunder. The Rev. Keith Klemm and the Rev. Allan Stoa officiated.
