Services for Mrs. Nellie Elizabeth Lamphier, 73, were held at the Congregational United Church of Christ, Mon., June 4, at 2 p.m. Rev. A. F. Volle officiated. Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery at Volga.
Mrs. Lamphier was at her home here when she was stricken early last Sat., June 2. She had been in failing health for about 10 years.
She was a daughter of Charles and Almina Cline Landis and was born on March 19, 1900, at Wadena. She was baptized at the Christian Church in Wadena and has been a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ in Elkader for the past 21 years.
On April 18, 1932, she was united in marriage with Willis Lamphier at Galena, Ill. They were married 41 years.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Popenhagen, two sons, Leonard Popenhagen and Edward Lyman Lamphier; and three brothers, Fred, Paul and LeRoy Landis.
Surviving are her husband, Willis Lamphier of Elkader, three daughters, Mrs. Neil (Willa Dean) Nelson of St. Olaf, Mrs. Norma Troester of Atkins and Mrs. Kenneth (Kay) Lemka of Elkader; one brother, Don Landis of Rockford, Ill., one sister, Mrs. Oscar Lamphier of Strawberry Point, 14 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Richard Popenhagen, Gary Lamphier, Dale Landis, Alvin Maier, Charles Landis and Lee Landis.
