Mary Margaret “Maggie” Landt, 44, Luana, Iowa, died Saturday, July 18, 2009, at her home following a sudden illness.

Private graveside services will be held on Wednesday, July 22, at Farmersburg - Wagner Cemetery, Farmersburg, Iowa.

A family and friends luncheon will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2009, at 11:30 am at the Farmersburg Community Center, Farmersburg, Iowa.

Mary was born on June 16, 1965, McGregor, Iowa, to Leo and June (Mishler) Knickerbocker. She attended MFL High School in Monona, Iowa.

Mary was united in marriage to Loren Landt on August 13, 2005, at Camp Bismark, Farmersburg, Iowa. Mary bartended for many years and owned and operated the Luana Tavern for eight years. At the time of her death, she was working at Norplex in Postville, Iowa. She loved cats, dogs and spending time with her grandchildren. Mary will be greatly missed by the many people who knew her.

Survivors include her husband, Loren “Schavy” Landt, Luana; two daughters, Miranda (William) Duffield, West Union, Kelly (Eric) Lundquist, Vista, CA; four grandchildren, Madison, Ethan, Cameron and Makenna; her mother, June (Orville) Nuehring, Monona; siblings, Gayle (Raymond) Rose, Monona, Leo Knickerbocker Jr., Monona, Shawna Radloff, Monona; uncle, Alvin Knickerbocker, McGregor; close friend, Sue Johanningmeier, Luana and a host of other family and friends.

Mary was preceded in death by her father, Leo Knickerbocker Sr.; uncles, Fred and Harold Knickerbocker and her paternal and maternal grandparents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Monona Vet Clinic to help with injured cats and dogs.

Leonard Funeral Home of Monona is in charge of arrangements.
