BLIETZ, STOUFFER, SCHULTZ, BUGENHAGEN, KEEHNER, JOHANNSEN

Brent Ronald Blietz, 24, Monona, Iowa, died Friday, September 11, 2009, Prairie du Chien, WI, from injuries sustained in a work related accident.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2009, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona. The Reb. Allen Bidne officiated. Burial was in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Monona.

Visitation was held from 2 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 15, at the Leonard Funeral Home, Monona, and one hour before services at the church on Wednesday. Music was provided by Judy Walter, organist.

Brent was born on March 26, 1985, Waukon, Iowa, to Rickey Blietz and Penny (Stouffer) Blietz. He graduated from MFL Mar-Mac High School with the class of 2003. Brent attended NICC in Calmar, Iowa, for two years majoring in communications.

Brent was united in marriage to Ashley Schultz on August 23, 2008, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Monona, Iowa. One son, Brodyn Patrick Blietz, was born to this union. Brent worked at Moore’s IGA and Spook Cave while in high school. For the past five years, Brent has been working for the Monona Greenhouse and Outdoor Creations in Monona. He loved his job and took great pride in the finished product of his landscaping work. During the winter months, Brent volunteered countless hours to his boys in the MFL Mar-Mac Wrestling program as an assistant coach.

Brent enjoyed golfing, softball, fantasy football, bean bags, running, Chicago Cubs Baseball, North Carolina Basketball, Iowa Football and Wrestling and helping with the chains for the MFL Mar-Mac Football program. Brent loved spending time with his wife, son and all of his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by the many people who knew him.

Survivors include his wife, Ashley Blietz, Monona; his son, Brodyn Blietz, Monona; father and step-mother, Rick (Laurie) Blietz, McGregor; mother, Penny Bugenhagen (special friend, Don Nieland), Monona; step-father, Dale Bugenhagen, Luana; father and mother-in-law, Tim and Carla, Schultz, Monona; three sisters, Randee Blietz, Monona, Emily Blietz, McGregor, Erin Blietz, McGregor; sister-in-law, Erin Schultz; brother-in-law, Landon Schultz, Monona; one nephew, Carver Blietz-Bentien, Monona; grandparents, Ron and Bette Keehner, Prairie du Chien, WI; great-grandmother, Irene Keehner, Monona; great-grandfather, Malin Schultz, Monona; grandparents-in-law, Lyle and Marion Johannsen, Monona and numerous other family and friends.

Brent was preceded in death by grandparents, Giles and Dorothy Blietz, Charles and Hazel Stouffer Sr,; great-grandparents, George Keehner and Dorothy Schultz; grandparents-in-law, Ron and Wilmarie Schultz; two uncles, Ronald Stouffer and Dean Blietz and one aunt, Marcia Blas.

Casket bearers were Bob Davis, Ben Schlake, Mychal Moon, Burke Schrader, Justin Lang, Jeremy Schellhorn, Jon Johanningmeier and Ben Burton.
