Robert George Cox, 72, Monona, IA, died Wednesday, October 7, 2009, at the Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital, Prairie du Chien, WI, following a brief illness.

Memorial Services were held at 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 12 at the Leonard Funeral Home of Monona. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date.

Bob was born on June 8, 1937, in Rockford, IL, to Irvin and Nell (Durham) Cox. He graduated from West High School in Rockford, IL, with the class of 1955.

Bob was united in marriage to Judith Crowell in Rockford, IL, on October 5, 1957. Five children were born to this union. Bob owned and operated the Standard Amoco Station in Monona, IA, for ten years. Over the years, he was a general contractor and worked for Postville Ford in Postville, IA, until his retirement in 2004. Bob was a member of the local Jaycee organization for over twenty years. During this time he also served as Chapter President.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Cox, Monona, IA; five children, Patrick (Jean) Cox, Crystal Lake, IL, Steven (Linda) Cox, Osceola, WI, Lisa (Shayne) Preuss, Hazleton, IA, Teresa (Lee) Lloyd, Crestview, FL, Jeffrey (Michelle) Cox, Postville, IA; fourteen grandchildren, Jason, Emily, Jennifer, Nicholas, Jacob, Maggie, Gus, Steve, Savannah, Sierra, Brandon, Zachary, Alex and Lakken.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Irvin and Nell Cox, and one sister, Jackie McGrew.

Visitations was held from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 12 at the Leonard Funeral Home of Monona.
