Dale Edward Henning, 75, McGregor, Iowa, died Friday, October 02, 2009, at his home following a brief illness.
A funeral service was held 11 a.m. Monday, October 5, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Farmersburg.
The casket bearers were Dale Best, Ron Henning, Randy Henning, Richard Henning, Jeff Holly, Corey Drahn, and Chandler Drahn.
Visitation was held from 3-6 p.m. Sunday, October 4, at St. Johnson Lutheran Church, Farmersburg, and one hour before services at the church on Monday.
Leonard Funeral Home, of Monona, was in charge of the arrangements.
Dale was born on January 28, 1934, rural Farmersburg, Iowa, to Marvin and Edna (Kalke) Henning. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Farmersburg. Dale graduated from Farmersburg High School with the class of 1951.
Dale was united in marriage to Bonnie Drahn on February 25, 1952, at St. John Lutheran Church in Farmersburg. Two sons, Kevin and Kent, were born to this union. Dale farmed and worked for the Coca-Cola Co. out of Cedar Rapids until he was drafted into the Army in June of 1955.
Dale returned home from the service in 1957, and farmed until 1995. He then started working for the Isle of Capri as a bus driver. In 2008, he retired from the Isle of Capri to take care of his wife, Bonnie.
Dale loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed playing cards, visiting with everyone and hunting with his family and friends. He will greatly missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Henning, McGregor; two sons, Kevin (Cindy) Henning, Monona, Kent (Carole) Henning, Johnston; four grandchildren, Travis Henning, Milwaukee, WI, Justin Henning, Mediapolis, Audrey Henning, Johnston, Julia Henning, Johnston; two great-grandchildren, Jackson and Keya and one sister, VaNalle (Don) Miller, CA.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Donald Henning and one sister, Ila Mae Best.
