Herman S. Mueller, 86, of Guttenberg, died Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, at Guttenberg Care Center.

Visitation was Tuesday at Tuecke-Allyn Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Guttenberg and one hour before services at the church. Funeral services were Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Guttenberg. Rev. Marvin Bries conducted. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery in Guttenberg.

Herman was born the son of Herman L. and Margaret (Harter) Mueller on Aug. 14, 1923, near Garnavillo. Herman received his education locally, and farmed with family for many years. On May 20, 1952, he was united in marriage with Theresa Oberbroeckling at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Luxemburg. Herman enjoyed playing cards, fishing and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Theresa; one daughter, Diane and Andy Kliebenstein of Belmont, Wis.; one son, Daniel and Emily Mueller of Guttenberg; five grandchildren, Cale and Carla Waterman, Scott and Erica Waterman, Jennifer Waterman, Aaron Mueller and Andrew Mueller; five great-grandchildren, Cody, Callie, Chloe, Kailey and Lilly; two sisters, Margaret Schlueter of Garnavillo and Florentine Bries of Luxemburg; two brothers, Henry and Rosemary Mueller and Harold and Lois Mueller of Garnavillo and two sisters-in-law, Virgil and Mary Ann Hermsen of New Vienna and Joe and Pat Wulfekuhle of Petersburg and brothers-in-law, Dennis and Barb Oberbroeckling of Cedar Rapids and Marvin and Jean Kramer of Farley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Dorothy Berns, and three brothers-in-law, Leo Bries, Hans Schlueter and Hubert Berns.
