Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. August 26, 2009 at Norway Lutheran Church, rural St. Olaf, Iowa for Ronald Dean Knuth, 76, who passed away Monday, August 24 at the Elkader Care Center in Elkader following a sudden illness. Burial was in the Norway Lutheran Cemetery, rural St. Olaf. Leonard Funeral Home of Elkader, IA assisted the family.
Ronald Dean Knuth was born July 1, 1933, in St. Olaf, to Arthur and Mabel (Kjosa) Knuth. Ronald attended rural schools in Clayton County; later attending Elkader High School, where he graduated in 1952.
He farmed many years with his parents and also worked as a farm hand for others. Following the death of his parents, Ronald moved to Scenic Acres, rural St. Olaf, where he resided many years. In 2006, he moved to the Elkader Care Center, where he was currently living. He enjoyed farm implements, tractors and painting by number. Bingo was a favorite of Ronald's.
Ronald is survived by a sister, Ruth Dutka, Garnavillo; nephews, Dan Dutka, Rochester, MN, Randy Dutka, Trempealeau WI, Howard Dutka, Temecula, CA; several cousins and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother in law, Donald Dutka.
