Ernest Albert Friederich, son of Fred and Elizabeth (Bill) Friederich died Jan. 25, at the age of 88, after a month in Palmer Lutheran Health Center.

He was born in Clayton County September 28, 1901. He attended a rural school. He was baptized October 20, 1953 at the Elgin Lutheran Church, where he was a lifelong member.

He married Florence Baumgartner at Elgin, Iowa, April 16, 1924. They had three sons and three daughters.

He and his wife Florence farmed on the home place of Florence until her death in 1954. After Florence's death he moved to Elgin where he worked for the Elgin Creamery and Tillotson Hardware until his retirement. After his heart attack in 1984, he enjoyed repairing things for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Florence, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.

Surviving are his children, Harold of Marion, Iowa, Leo, Russel and Joan of Elgin, Ernestine of Lakeland, FL and Anna of Lisbon; 17 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and his foster sister, Martha Mitts of Elgin.

Pallbearers were Allan Friederich, Curtis Butikofer, Alan Burkhart, Steven Friederich, Kevin Lembke and Troy Caspers.

Services were conducted by Pastor Ernest Thompson at the Elgin Lutheran Church, Elgin, Iowa, Jan. 28. Soloist was Art Amundson, and organist was Marilana Sutter.

Arrangements were by Muehlethaler's Funeral Home, Elgin, Iowa.
