Services for Laura Funk were held Tuesday, December 7, 1982 at 1:30 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, Luana, Iowa. Pastor Ted Ager officiated. Pallbearers were Glen Palas, Don McShane, Henry Mueller, James McClure, Merle Miller, and Wayne Chamberlain. Burial was in St. John Lutheran Cemetery. Schultz's Funeral Home was in charge of services.

Laura Maria Funk, the daughter of Fred and Ida (Kalke) Possehl, was born January 7, 1899 at Garnavillo, Iowa, Read Township. She was baptized June 4, 1899 by Rev. Sommerland and confirmed March 21, 1913, her verse was Matt. 28, verse 20. She was united in marriage to Wilmar L. Funk on September 11, 1918 at her parents home. To this union 2 daughters and 3 sons were born. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church. She was a cook at the Luana School and also at the Luana Cafe for many years. She died Saturday, December 4, 1982 at Community Memorial Hospital, Postville, having reached the age of 83 years, 10 months, 27 days.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Wilmar, who died in 1949, her son Fritz and one grandchild, one brother, John.

Surviving are her two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Lauretta) Nelson of Buffalo, Wyoming, Mrs. Wallace (Shirley) Thein, of Monona, daughter-in-law Betty Funk of Osage, Iowa, two sons, Merle of Tensleep, Wyoming and Ronald of Buffalo, Wyoming; 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Elsie Klinkenberg, of McGregor, Iowa.
