William Fuhrman Funeral Services

Funeral services for William Fuhrman, 89, of Castalia were held Friday afternoon, April 19, at 1:30 o'clock at St. John Lutheran church in Farmersburg with Rev. R. H. Steege officiating.

Burial was in the Farmersburg and Wagner cemetery.

Mr. Fuhrman suffered a light stroke last March 28 and was taken to the Postville hospital for treatment. He died there shortly after midnight, Wednesday, April 17.

He was born a son of John L. and Fredericka (Henning) Fuhrman in Germany, Dec. 12, 1878. He came to America with his parents in 1880 and settled with them in Buffalo county, near Fountain City, Wis. Here he attended the school of his day and grew to manhood.

In 1898 he came to Clayton county and began working in the St. Olaf-Farmersburg community. He was married to Amanda Lenth, Oct. 19, 1904, by Rev. Fred Braun of St. John Lutheran church in Farmersburg. After their marriage they farmed south of Farmersburg until 1920, when they sold their farm and moved to St. Olaf.

For some years he was manager of the St. Olaf Commission company. He also served as secretary of the St. Olaf creamery for many years and also served as a member of the board of directors of the St. Olaf bank.

In 1964 they sold their house in St. Olaf and shortly after this, Oct. 3, 1964, they moved to Castalia, and made their home with Mrs. Fuhrman's niece, Mr. and Mrs. Carlous Meyer.

Mr. Fuhrman was a member of St. John Lutheran church at Farmersburg and attended its worship services as long as his health permitted. He was a true friend and a good neighbor.

Surviving are his wife and nieces and nephews.
