Funeral services were held for Kathrine Minnie (Dohrer) Nelson. 85, Poynette, Wis.; formerly of Elkader, Wednesday, Sept. 15, 1999, at Leonard Funeral Home in Elkader. Rev. Marshall Hahn officiated, with burial in the Norway Lutheran Cemetery, rural St. Olaf. Soloist was Nancy Thurn. Honorary pall bearers were Henry and Lorraine Possehl, Charlotte Kramer, Dwayne and Helen Bahls, Melvin Scott, Evelyn Nading, Mary Bankes, LaNelle Elvers and Al and Marilyn Sopha. Pallbearers were Harlan Thurn, Gary Thurn, Ed Nelson, Jeff Nelson, Kim Sopha and Ronald Dohrer. Arrangements were by Leonard Funeral Home, Elkader.

Katherine Minnie Nelson was born April 27, 1914 in Cox Creek Township, near Elkader, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Augusta (Meyer) Dohrer. She was united in marriage with Clifford L. Nelson in Elkader on August 21, 1937. They lived and worked on several farms in the Elkader area until moving to Madison, Wis. in 1952, and finally moving to Poynette, Wis. in 1966. She was employed at the Oscar Meyer Meat Packing Plant in Madison for 22 and one-half years, retiring in 1974. She was a member of the Luther Memorial Church in Madison for many years and served as the secretary of the Poynette Homemakers Club for 4 years. She died Friday, Sept. 10, 1999, at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison.

She is survived by two brothers, Robert (Mary) Dohrer, Dubuque, and Harold Dohrer, Elkader; special friends, Steve A. and Jane Kerns and their children, Jacob and Ryan, Pardeeville, Wis.; Marilyn and Al Sopha, Poynette, Wis.; brother-in-law, Leighton (Yvonne) Nelson, Elkader; three sisters-in-law, June (Larry) Horstman, Guttenberg; Arleen Thurn, Littleport; and Dorothy Schmidt, Guttenberg.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Clifford L. Nelson on April 13, 1992, and a brother and several sisters.
