Wilbert Taacke (sic), 19 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Taacke (sic) of Read Township, was killed while driving a side-delivery rake on the farm of Henry Mohr recently. The team of horses became frightened and ran away, throwing the young man to the front of the machine, where his mangled remains were found after the horses reached the barn.

Elkader Register, Thur., 14 July 1921.
Wilbert Taake, the eighteen year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Taake, of Read township, was fatally injured last Thursday afternoon on the Henry Moor farm in Pony Hollow, where he and the Seeland boys had finished haying.
Wilbert was on his way to the house with the hay rack and as he drove over a knoll he waived to the other boys. Shortly after this the team, without driver, ran into the yard. Becoming alarmed, Mr. and Mrs. Moore went to the field, where they found Wilbert unconscious, badly bruised about the head and body. A doctor was called at once, but the victim of the accident passed away before anyone could get there.
It is impossible to state just how the accident occurred, for there was no one there to see it, but from all appearances Wilbert had been dragged quite a distance. It appears that in driving over a hitch, he lost his balance and fell from the rack.
Funeral services were held at the home last Sunday afternoon, with Rev. Weise, of Clayton Center, officiating, and interment was made in the Clayton Center cemetery.
This was indeed a sad accident and the sympathy of all friends and neighbors goes forth to the bereaved family.
(Note: The surname Moor/Moore was spelled both ways in the article.)
